One Final Minor League Homer Party for Jorge Soler (VIDEO)

Chicago Cubs

Soon, Jorge Soler Homer Parties will be on the big league team. So, for now, let’s enjoy what hopefully was the final minor league homer of his career.

It came last night, literal moments before he was pulled for his forthcoming promotion to the big leagues (he rounded the bases and then hopped on a helicopter at home plate):

I like to think the ball left the bat, and the Cubs’ brain trust collective said, “Eff it. Call that guy up.”

I also like how that was very much a Kris Bryant Special.

The homer was Soler’s 15th on the year, despite playing in only 62 games. It was his 8th at AAA in 32 games. His line on the year before the promotion: .340/.432/.700 with a strikeout rate around 20% and a walk rate around 14%. I’m not going to argue that he’s the best of the bunch offensively, but I will say that he’s cut from a different cloth: he’s a big-time slugger who also knows the strike zone AND has a high rate of contact.

He’s also a physical beast, which is the first thing you’ll notice when you see him debuting tomorrow against the Reds.
