The Chicago Cubs’ last remaining arbitration case has been settled, as the team has signed reliever Pedro Strop to a one-year, $2.525 million deal (Jon Heyman).
Strop, 29, was eligible for arbitration for the second time in 2015 (out of four times – he is a Super Two guy) after making $1.325 million in 2014 and pretty much dominating. He’d requested $3 million and the Cubs had countered at $2 million before they settled at just over the midpoint.
It’s great to have that taken care of short of actually proceeding to an arbitration hearing.
