Yes, that is the Will Ferrell. The actor, comedian, and sometimes fake athlete. He’s got good height, but he really needs to add some weight. Perhaps he can share some ice cream with C.J. Edwards. He’s also probably a touch old to be considered a real future contributor.
If you hadn’t heard, Ferrell is participating in a Spring Training stunt tomorrow, in which he’ll appear in five Cactus League games, playing at 10 different positions for 10 different teams. One of those team is the Cubs, about which you can read more here. It’s for an HBO charity special (and benefits the fight against cancer), and it sounds like Ferrell will be catching for the Cubs. How about trying to block a Pedro Strop slider?
So, watch tomorrow’s game on MLB.tv (or the later replay on MLB Network as noted in the comments, the game is now being carried LIVE by MLB Network (I’m guessing it could be because of the Ferrell thing – it was originally announced as a replay game)), and you will see Ferrell at some point playing for the Cubs.
Now let’s debate just how important the outcomes of Spring Training games are …
