#BNBlogathon: You’ve Got Me Up to 36 Hours Straight at the Deadline, Plus a Matching Offer (UPDATE)

Chicago Cubs

make a wish arturoThere was some aggressive generosity in the past week, and your efforts have shot the total donations to Make-A-Wish well over $10,000!

Not only does that mean we’re just $2,000 away from granting a second child’s wish, that means you’re also so close to getting me for the full 38 hours (straight!) at the Trade Deadline next Thursday and Friday. In case you’ve forgotten or you didn’t know, we’re working with Make-A-Wish Illinois to sponsor wishes (the average wish costs $6,000) and make some special experiences happen for children and their families.

To do that, I’ve offered to blog for 38 hours straight – no breaks, no sleep, just coverage and madness – at the Trade Deadline if we can exceed $12,000 raised for Make-A-Wish.

And to help us get even closer, BN’er David has made an incredible offer: from now until the end of the day tomorrow, he’ll match any and all donations we receive, up to $750.

In other words, if you give to Make-A-Wish today or tomorrow, it’s like you’re giving DOUBLE the amount.

Here’s how you donate:

Go to the BN Blogathon fundraiser page, and make your donation there by clicking on the “Donate to This Fundraiser” button.

Make-A-Wish is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, so, to the extent you were wondering, financial contributions may be deductible for federal income tax purposes. Just throwing that out there.

Thank you for your attention, your support, and for telling your friends and family about this fundraiser.

UPDATE: Wow. That happened fast! Thanks to your generosity, we just flew over the $12,000 mark! Already! That means we’ve sponsored two children’s wishes, and you’ve got me for the full 38 hours next week. Yowsa. Time to start resting up.

But I’m not ready to be done raising funds for Make-A-Wish! Although I can’t offer you more hours during the Blogathon, I am open to creative suggestions for additional things I can do in order to raise more funds. I’d love to see us get to the $18,000 level and sponsor a full THREE wishes this year.

So, I’m open to suggestions for what else you can make me do during the Blogathon. As some of you remember, last year I wore The Hat for the entire 37 hours.
