Well, today’s series finale Cubs lineup is going to get folks talking:
- Dexter Fowler, CF
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Chris Coghlan, RF
- Addison Russell, SS
- David Ross, C
- Jon Lester, P
- Jonathan Herrera, 2B
Man, that’s a lot which to react.
A day after a double switch removal that had everyone wondering things, Starlin Castro is suddenly not in the lineup. Just a break for him? Maybe. Something more? Maybe.
Then there’s Kyle Schwarber getting his first start in left field. He’s gotten work there on the side, and one inning in a game. We’ll see how he looks out there – could be some rough edges. It will be nice to keep his bat in the lineup, though.
To keep Chris Coghlan’s bat in the lineup, he shifts over to right field for today, giving Jorge Soler a break. I’d say that Coghlan in right could also be an adventure, but, with how bad Soler has looked out there, I doubt there’s much of a defensive downgrade here.
Addison Russell starts at shortstop and bats a little higher in the order. Jonathan Herrera gets the start at second.
Just win the game, Cubs.
