I’ll have more on this tomorrow, but for you folks who stayed up late, it sounds like the first wave of September call-ups will include Javier Baez, Quintin Berry, Tsuyoshi Wada, and Trevor Cahill:
Wada, Baez, Cahill and Berry up Tuesday.

September 1 call-ups for #Cubs: Javier Baez, Quintin Berry, Trevor Cahill, Tsuyoshi Wada.

Berry apparently gets the we-might-need-you-as-the-speed-guy-in-the-playoffs nod over Emilio Bonifacio (if not added today, Bonifacio is ineligible for the postseason unless he winds up replacing an injured player on the 40-man). He will need a 40-man spot.
Cahill, who’d been pitching well out of the Iowa bullpen after spending the season trying to reclaim his starter magic with the Braves and then Dodgers (in the minors), will also need a 40-man spot.
Cahill and Wada can help in the pen, and also offer depth starting options if the Cubs need to make a change at some point. We discussed Baez’s impending arrival previously.
The 40-man stuff will be sorted out very soon, I’d imagine.
