The Cubs sure do seem to score a lot of runs when Jake Arrieta is on the mound. Which is awesome. And also totally unnecessary. It’s like using an anvil to squash an ant.
The Cubs’ bats woke up after a minor slumber, and Arrieta was dominant, as usual. Kris Bryant hit a three-run shot to help chase Jake Peavy before the second inning was even over, which taxed the Giants’ bullpen nicely in the very first game of the series. Jorge Soler had a great game, including a homer of his own and a fantastic catch at the wall. Ben Zobrist crushed one, too.[adinserter block=”1″]
It was really an all-around fantastic game.
Except for that one thing.
