Confident Cubs Fan Tattoo is Actually a Race Against the Clock

Listen. I’m a Cubs fan. I’m unashamed, I’m dedicated, I’m probably a little looney. But what can I say? I love this team and I don’t plan on stopping any time soon … probably even if they never win again. Why? I’m not sure. Maybe I have faith? Maybe I think being a fan is unconditional? Maybe I’m a masochist? It’s definitely one of those three.

But, hey, I don’t have to explain myself, at least not right now. The Cubs are fresh off a 97-win season and an NLCS appearance and are currently on pace to win like 300 games this season by my calculation, so I am completely justified in my insanity. In fact, the future continues to look as bright as it ever has, as the Cubs appear to be set up for a solid 3-4 year window of contention.

At least, one fan better hope so:

Hmm … let’s see. It’s 2016 right now, so this brave, brave, silly, brave soul has just four seasons left for the Cubs to win the World Series, lest that tattoo become ironic. I just could never do that. I may have faith, I may be dedicated … but I’m not totally crazy!

I’m kidding, of course, and this will be a pretty fun story follow. But, for the sake of that arm, I sure hope Jason Heyward starts getting a few more hits!

Cubs fans, man. We’re a different breed.

Enhanced Box Score: Red Sox 17, Cubs 0 – April 27, 2024
