Jeimer Candelario got his first career hit. Miguel Montero got to pitch. Willson Contreras hit another homer.
…
Otherwise, this one was as forgettable as it gets. Just a day after being named the NL Pitcher of the Month for June, Jon Lester posted the shortest start of his career. It was every bit as ugly as the line looks, with pitches getting hammered up in the zone. No, not every run came on a rocket – there were several dinks and dunks, too – but even the pitches that netted weak contact were not great-looking pitches. Something was just off from the word go. Not unlike everything in this series.[adinserter block=”1″]
I’ve got little else to say right now. There are legitimate areas of concern for this Cubs team, even as you’re grateful that they built up such a significant buffer early on in the season. Not unlike the players, I think it’s useful to just put this series behind you, go do something fun with your friends or family, and try again tomorrow.
