The Cubs won’t lose too many games in which they hold the opposition to the just two runs, but the offense is in a bit of a funk.
On the pitching side of the ledger, the Cubs got another nice, healthy outing from John Lackey, so that’s good. Justin Grimm and Carl Edwards Jr. pitched well in relief to keep things close.[adinserter block=”1″][adinserter block=”10″]
But the offense – just two hits on the day – was the story of the game for the Cubs, and it wasn’t a great story. Because of where we are in the season and because of the Cubs’ huge lead, I can’t get too worked up about it, but obviously you’d like to see some bats getting nice and toasty come mid-to-late-September.
