Javy Slam: Baez Just Ripped a Rocket Grand Slam (VIDEO)

Chicago Cubs

The Cubs are playing a technically meaningless game tonight in Pittsburgh, but they sure aren’t treating it that way. Which is nice. Because it’s fun.

Like, for example, when Javy Baez rips a rocket shot to the left field corner on an 0-2 pitch for a grand slam:

The Statcast data for that shot is, unfortunately, unavailable. I can only assume it’s because Baez hit the ball so hard that The Statcast Robot tried to calculate the exit velocity, couldn’t make sense of 250mph, questioned its own mechanical sense of reality, and spontaneously burst into flames.

That was Baez’s second grand slam of the year, and although awesome, doesn’t quite match the moment of the first – remember that one? In the 15th inning in Cincinnati?
