After a hugely disappointing (and often misguided) season, the Arizona Diamondbacks have reportedly parted ways with Senior Vice President and General Manager Dave Stewart, as well as Manager Chip Hale. The news was first broken by Nick Piecoro on Twitter, but was later confirmed by the Diamondbacks themselves:
I'm told Dave Stewart has been fired as Dbacks GM.

Stewart (along with front office mate Tony La Russa), you’ll recall, received a fair amount of heat earlier in the season, when it was revealed that they led a number of uninformed and questionable decisions revealing a significant lack in understanding of the Draft, International Free Agency, and general player scouting, evaluation, and management. No decision has yet been made on La Russa.
You can read more about their questionable moves here.
The Diamondbacks signed Chip Hale to be their manager before the 2015 season, but he has failed to live up to the expectations ever since. In his two seasons at the helm, Hale led to the Diamondbacks to a losing (148-176) record, despite rather significant ML talent. While it’s an obvious bummer for Hale, a new General Manager would likely want to bring in his/her own manager anyway.
