Chicago Cubs Lineup: Most of the Regulars Are Back

Chicago Cubs

The Cubs head out to Goodyear tonight for a game against the Reds (played at the same time as the WBC Final, grumble).

Here’s today’s Cubs lineup:

  1. Kyle Schwarber, LF
  2. Kris Bryant, 3B
  3. Ben Zobrist, 2B
  4. Miguel Montero, C
  5. Addison Russell, SS
  6. Jason Heyward, RF
  7. Jeimer Candelario, 1B
  8. Matt Szczur, DH
  9. Jon Jay, CF

Starting Pitcher: Ryan Williams

Most of the Cubs’ regulars are back in the lineup after yesterday’s off day, with Anthony Rizzo and Willson Contreras being the exceptions. Get used to seeing that in the regular season: Joe Maddon likes to pair rest days with off days, so that regulars get two days off in a row (but miss only one game).

Matt Szczur gets the start at DH so he can keep swinging a hot bat, and Jeimer Candelario subs at first base.

Ryan Williams makes his first spring start in advance of likely heading to AAA Iowa to join the rotation there at the start of the season.

As usual, we’ll have a full Pre-Gamin’ for you closer to game time.
