The Cubs lost a laugher last night to the Yankees, which means they are perilously close to being swept at home for the second time already on this relatively young season.
Here’s the Cubs’ lineup against the Yankees today:
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Ben Zobrist, RF
- Addison Russell, SS
- Jon Jay, CF
- Willson Contreras, C
- Jon Lester, P
- Javy Baez, 2B
Jason Heyward is out again, which is apparently due to a sore knuckle from one of his diving/sliding plays on Friday. Please let that not be the kind of thing that lingers after the guy had started to show signs of a turnaround season …
In his absence, and with Albert Almora sitting, the Cubs’ outfield defense looks downright terrifying. Keep the ball on the ground if you can, Jon Lester. And let’s hope the bats come up big against young – very good – righty Luis Severino.
As usual, we’ll have a full Pre-Gamin’ for you closer to game time (7:08pm CT). In the meantime, check out today’s sale at Fanatics:
