Today was already going to be a busy day, before the Cubs DFA’d Miguel Montero, Anthony Rizzo went on the radio to voice his displeasure, and Montero responded with an interview of his own.
We’ll still get to most of it, but for now, let’s focus on the lineup:
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Ian Happ, 2B
- Willson Contreras, C
- Jon Jay, LF
- Javy Baez, SS
- Albert Almora Jr., CF
- John Lackey, P
- Mark Zagunis, RF
The Cubs are rolling with a fairly standard lineup (relative to the last two weeks), with Anthony Rizzo leading things off, and Kris Bryant, Ian Happ, and Willson Contreras rounding out the top four.
Jon Jay follows and heads out to left field, Javy Baez sticks at shortstop, and it’s Almora and Zagunis rounding out the outfield. Like I said, very few surprises tonight. Tonight’s starter for the Nats, Stephen Strasburg, has been very split neutral for his career (and almost entirely split neutral this season), so there wasn’t much of a platoon advantage to worry about.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time (6:05 CT).
