A win tonight would mean so much to the Cubs, given the way the second half has gone, right?
It’s not like a loss would necessarily take anything away from their hot start, but a win, somehow, would make the turnaround feel cemented.
Here’s the group that’ll try:
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Willson Contreras, C
- Kyle Schwarber, LF
- Ian Happ, CF
- Addison Russell, SS
- Javy Baez, 2B
- Jose Quintana, P
There are not a lot of unexpected changes to the lineup for tonight’s finale against the Cardinals.
The most notable bit, of course, is that Jason Heyward is getting another shot at leading off, after going 1-5 in that role on Friday. With the righty Michael Wacha on the mound, the move does make some sense (Heywards been better against righties for his career (although that split is much less noticeable this season)).
Hopefully, he continues his blisteringly hot second half: .379/.419/.655 (176 wRC+) and leads the Cubs to victory.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time (7:05 CT).
