The Chicago Air and Water Show is annually held at Lake Michigan, featuring airplane stunts, parachutists, and more. If you’re in Chicago the weekend of the show, and you’re within a mile of the lake, you can’t miss it. Even if you don’t see the jets in the sky, you will hear them.
And that was the case at Wrigley Field today, as we were watching the Cubs best the Blue Jays, the Blue Angels were repeatedly flying by the ballpark. At one point, they flew directly over the park (one of the jets was *extremely* low, which blew my mind), and you couldn’t miss the sound even if you were watching the broadcast:
Look at the fans (and Alex Avila and Joe West) all craning to see the jets above. It was pretty awesome. Chants of ‘USA! USA!’ broke out immediately thereafter, which was cheeky fun given that the Cubs were playing a team from Canada.
I managed to snap a quick picture of the Angels as they were flying away from the park on their fourth pass:

That wasn’t the only Cubs-related Air and Water Show fun, though. Former Cubs catcher, current Cubs exec, and dancer extraordinaire David Ross participated by jumping out of a plane:
