After losing three out of their past four games, the Cubs will look to turn things around against the Pirates at Wrigley Field.
Here’s the lineup for tonight’s contest:
- Jon Jay, CF
- Tommy La Stella, 2B
- Kris Bryant, 3B
- Anthony Rizzo, 1B
- Ian Happ, LF
- Alex Avila, C
- Jason Heyward, RF
- Javy Baez, SS
- Mike Montgomery, P
The Pirates starter, Trevor Williams, has been tougher on righties than lefties for his career, so, as usual, the Cubs lineup shifts towards their southpaws. That also means that the only righties in the order tonight are Kris Bryant at third base and Javy Baez at short.
After going 0 for his last 8 with two walks, Kyle Schwarber is grabbing some bench tonight, while Ian Happ mans left field and Tommy La Stella covers second base.
To keep everyone in their usual spots, then, La Stella slides into the second spot of the order. And given the way he’s been swinging it, it’s hard to hate this move for a night. Alex Avila is behind the plate, Jason Heyward is out in right, and Mike Montgomery is on the mound.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ closer to game time (7:05 CT) – Oh, and if you’re going to the game, I’ll see you there!
