In yesterday’s Pre-Gamin’ post, I mentioned that I was listening to Frank Sinatra’s “My Way,” while writing it up, because the song did a nice job of mirroring my mood going into, what could’ve been, the last game of the year.
I want to do something similar tonight, but after yesterday’s win, I’m no longer in a que sera, sera type of mood. Nah – now I’m in a fightin’ mood, and I’m ready for the Cubs to battle all the way back to Los Angeles.
So tonight’s Pre-gamin’ song is “Ain’t Gonna Die Tonight,” by Macklemore. Get hyped.

Clayton Kershaw is on the mound for the Dodgers tonight in a rematch of Game One. And although the Cubs ultimately lost that one, they did seem to hit Kershaw well enough (including an Albert Almora homer) and even knocked him out of the game after just 5.0 innings. Hopefully they can plate a few more runs early and take this one to the house.
Of course, they’ll have to finish tonight’s game without Wade Davis, who completed a 2.0 inning save last night, which means they’ll need a nice deep start from starter Jose Quintana. Quintana also lasted just 5.0 innings against the Dodgers in Game One, but I remember him looking pretty good throughout.
I’ll be at the game tonight, sitting in the center field bleacher, so if you see me, say hi. Otherwise, buckle up, Cubs fans, it’s a big-boy game tonight.
