Spring Training Miscellany: First Full Squad Workout, Zobrist Sits, More Maddon Art

Chicago Cubs

Today was the first whole squad workout of Spring Training, and, with one exception, everyone was ready to go:

Ben Zobrist was the guy held out of today’s full-squad workout with a back issue, and the Cubs are gonna call that a “precautionary” situation (Gonzales). At this time of year, a 36-year-old veteran could justifiably be held out of a workout with a hangnail, so I am not going to be concerned by this development, even though I believe “back” was one of the myriad ailments Zobrist dealt with in his down 2017 season. Rest up, manage it, and be ready to go in a month.
