I thought Willson Contreras had a big day on Wednesday, with a couple triples and a double. That’s a big day, right?
Well, it is, but when you follow it up with a two-homer, two-double day, that other one will fade a bit. And that’s what Contreras did yesterday against the White Sox after about a week of starting, finally, to scald the ball with little to show in the results column. Contreras deserved the results he got yesterday and on Wednesday.
And for the lulz, in just two games – TWO GAMES – in mid-May, Contreras raised his slash line from .230/.315/.354 (85 wRC+) to .268/.343/.488 (124 wRC+). That’s more or less exactly in line with his career marks. So, in two days, Contreras went from “oh man, he’s slumping so hard” to “yeah, Willy’s pretty much Willy.”
