I am currently blogging – here, on Facebook, and on Twitter (hash tag #BNBlogathon for those who want to jump into the fray themselves) – for 40 hours straight, until a little past MLB’s July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline, thanks to your generous donations to Make-A-Wish. I’ll be doing recaps on the process throughout the day, but you’ll also see normal posting (Bullets, news, Pre-Gamin’, EBS, etc.), as well as a significant uptick in rumor/trade posts.

News and Rumors Since the Last Check-In:
Well, things certainly exploded, didn’t they? I talked about how Bryce Harper doesn’t make sense as a trade target for the Cubs, which wound up being fine, because the Nationals took him off the market (after having a deal in place and ownership scuttled it?). But then the Nationals popped up in a Gio Gonzalez rumor with the Brewers, so it’s all quite confusing. A reminder that, because of timing, you’ll see no Cubs prospect hugs today.
Most Interesting Tidbit Since the Last Recap:
Definitely the Cardinals’ surprising trade of Tommy Pham to the Rays for prospects. They’re selling, even as they long had reasons to want to trade Pham.
Farewell from the NL Central, Tommy Pham. As a parting gift, here's the time Tim McCarver said you didn't have to worry at all about your monster lead because Jon Lester "is not gonna throw to first base" and then he immediately picked you off. pic.twitter.com/v2vWbLhrps

Current Thoughts About the Chicago Cubs’ Trade Deadline Strategy/Execution:
Tick tock and all that, but they’re gonna get their reliever. I still have no doubt. Meanwhile, we can just enjoy the chaos around them.
Current Beverage/Stimulant of Choice:
Had to stop at Starbucks to get another strong coffee. Every time I sit down now, I start to fade. Gotta shake this off.

Starbucks, I just said that! Well, but before that, I was here:

Strangest Thought Passing Through My Mind:
It’s this:
Gotta offer this: folks who pull all-nighters on any kind of regular basis and then proceed to work the next day … how are you possibly even remotely as close to sharp as normal? I am a freaking butter knife this morning. #BNBlogathon

Everything I think and then try to do – including this very sentence – feels like it’s coming to me while trying to move through molasses. Ideas and sentence formations are there, but they take a little longer to get to the surface.

#BNBlogathon #CubsTwitter idea: I’d love to see a “work work work work, Bert” GIF (or even video with the song!) using goofy footage from his livestreams. (I don’t have the skills to do it myself, but thought I’d put it into the universe)

I think we can set the over/under for @BleacherNation’s mental break down this year at about 31 hours. #BNBlogathon
