It’s September 2018, in the heat of a pennant race, with the Cubs facing the Nationals in Washington. And in the 10th inning, the two guys who came through with the hits to give the Cubs the lead were David Bote and Taylor Davis.
I can’t tell you how much I love the idea that these two guys, both of whom would have properly been labeled “organizational depth” just a couple years ago as they ground away in the minor leagues, can come up to the big league team and do big things on the biggest stage. The message it sends to the rest of the players in the system is tremendous.
As for the hits, Bote’s was funny, as it looked like he initially thought he fouled the ball off to the right … but it was actually a double to the gap in right center:

Bote didn’t crush that one, but it somehow still went 340 feet, and was yet another game-winning hit against the Nationals. The last time these two teams played, Bote hit THE ULTIMATE GRAND SLAM to walk it off, so … yeah, they must really hate him.
In a past life, the Montreal Expos kicked David Bote's past life's dog.

Then, for good measure, Taylor Davis knocked one into right field to add some insurance. My dude has the best beer league swing you’ve ever seen:

Davis was grinning quite happily at first base after that one, as he should be:

Also, don’t forget that Taylor Davis is the best:
