The Brewers have pulled ahead in the series two games to one, so while the Dodgers are not quite in a must-win situation, it’s really darn close. And because I’m rooting HEAVILY for the Dodgers, I hope they win tonight.
And they’ve got Rich Hill on the mound to do it. Hill has baffled Cubs hitters plenty in recent postseason memory, so I’m hoping the 38-year-old still has something left in him. He wasn’t quite as good this season as he was in 2016 or 2017, but the old man still has it.
The Brewers are countering with mid-season acquisition, Gio Gonzalez, also a lefty. Gonzalez started Game 1 of this series, but lasted just 2.0 innings, as Craig Counsell elected to go to his bullpen quickly. The Brewers wound up winning that game thanks to their bullpen, but covering 7.0 innings is never the goal. So hopefully something similar happens again.
Go Dodgers.
