John Jacob Jack Reinheimer Schmidt, that’s my name, too.
The process of clearing the 40-man roster has begun for the Cubs today, with utility infielder Jack Reinheimer – claimed off of waivers by the Cubs just a couple weeks ago – now being claimed by the Rangers:
INF Jack Reinheimer claimed off waivers by the Rangers. He was previously claimed by the Cubs (from the Mets) on Nov. 2. Expect more 40-man roster moves later today for Chicago. Roster at 38 at the moment.

We discussed Reinheimer here, but you don’t need to read that now, because he’s gone. Or maybe he will come back in one of those waiver-wire games of pong.
Reinheimer was among the guys we thought could get bounced today, and the 40-man roster now stands at 38, with other moves/roster additions on the way today. Lots of teams are doing what the Cubs are doing today, so there will continue to be a flurry of fringe roster changes (and maybe even trades).
Bonus factoid: in conjunction with the Reinheimer waiver claim, the Rangers waived former Cub Eddie Butler, who cleared waivers, and was outrighted to AAA.
