This was a very, very scary moment in tonight’s game, as Willson Contreras took a Rick Porcello offering right back up the middle and hard off of Porcello’s head.
Fortunately, the Red Sox starter was immediately laughing and seemed to be OK:

Porcello took some warmup pitches, and ultimately stayed in the game.
I’m glad he’s OK. I’m a little less glad that the Red Sox let him talk his way into staying in the game. Even if he seemed truly perfectly fine, why would you risk the 0.05% chance that he only seems fine but is actually not? In an exhibition game? What is the point?
Glad he’s OK. Hope he stays OK.
