The day took on a sour note before the game even began thanks to the Brandon Morrow shut-down news, and then it was a first-inning thud, as Yu Darvish gave up a couple homers. That was all the Diamondbacks would need.
Frankly, I was less bothered by those homers than by the third run Darvish gave up, which came because he once again did the very quick back-to-back-walks-to-crappy-hitters thing. The stuff remains incredible, the command goes in and out way too much. You know the drill, and it is nut fun. We can say it was nice to see him settle down, that there were positives, etc. Shrug. Not feeling it today. I have no chill, I guess.
Offensively, the Cubs just had nothing at all going today. Sometimes you’ll have that, and sometimes Zack Greinke can do that to you. Here’s hoping the bats come back tomorrow ready to support Tyler Chatwood …
