Like a … a … well, I guess exactly what he is: a baseball player who has been away from his big league team for over three months, Ben Zobrist is clearly eager to get right back to it with activation coming tomorrow.
The 38-year-old utility man stepped away from the Cubs back in May to attend to family matters, but he’s back now, having worked his way through a unique reconditioning stint in the minors, and he will be in the dugout with his teammates tomorrow, as rosters expand to the full 40-man.
But for tonight? Zobrist stuck around at Wrigley Field to get in some more work:
It's starting to rain at Wrigley and baseball ended a few hours ago, but Ben Zobrist has arrived and is getting some work in. Expect him to be added to the 40-man before midnight and on the roster for tomorrow's game. pic.twitter.com/RWCT8kGi45

Ben Zobrist is here at Wrigley taking grounders. At some point today, Cubs need to add him to the 40-man roster. Will be added to active roster Sunday. pic.twitter.com/iUseuvscKP

Enjoy the soothing sounds of Zobrist taking BP in an empty Wrigley Field with the train in the distance. And then less soothing: honking and sirens. pic.twitter.com/4sDJXEsTCA
