Chicago Cubs Lineup: Kris Bryant and Willson Contreras Get Back In There

Chicago Cubs

The Chicago Cubs have another late one in San Diego tonight. Here’s their lineup for Game 2 against the righty Ronald Bolaños and the Padres.

Chicago Cubs Lineup:

  1. Ben Zobrist, 2B
  2. Kyle Schwarber, LF
  3. Nicholas Castellanos, RF
  4. Anthony Rizzo, 1B
  5. Kris Bryant, 3B
  6. Willson Contreras,C
  7. Jason Heyward, CF
  8. Nico Hoerner, SS
  9. Jose Quintana, P

Bolanos has made only one start in his big league career, but it was a good one against the Diamondbacks: 6.0 IP, 5H, 2ER, 2BB, 4K. I bring that up not only because he obviously did well enough to warrant attention, but also because the Cubs have historically had trouble with young, rookie pitchers they haven’t seen before. Who knows … maybe everyone has trouble with those types, but the Cubs definitely do.

With that said, Bolanos will have to face a fairly loaded lineup, which includes Kris Bryant (knee) and Willson Contreras (hamstring) back in there. And with the recently promoted Nico Hoerner ready to tear things up once again, I’m feeling good about this group.

As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (9:10 CT).
