C Martin Maldonado has agreed to a two-year, $7M deal with the Astros, per a source. Maldonado had multiple offers, but took less money to return to Houston.

Possible explanations for ramped-up Rangers interest: 1) they may like Arenado much more than Rendon 2) they may request Colo to pay NA deal down a bit (tho it’s hard to imagine they pay it down much, and presumably the Rockies wouldn’t trade him w/o big prospects coming back)
