Today was supposed to be the Chicago Cubs’ 2020 home opener at Wrigley Field, assuredly after they’d just swept the lowly Brewers in Milwaukee to kick off the season.
It is not to be, and the home opener will instead have to wait for some day this summer (I believe it in my heart … ).
Until then, wake up this morning by enjoying one of my favorite home openers ever, which not only featured the raising of the championship banner and the players coming onto the field with the World Series trophy for the first time – held aloft by Anthony Rizzo – but also featured Rizzo, himself, walking the Cubs off against the Dodgers in extra innings.
