None of it is going right at the moment for the Cubs, save for Yu Darvish and Ian Happ. Know that, and you know the size of tonight’s game.
Jon Lester was imprecise once again, which is – for him – an untenable issue. He got knocked around again, lasted only 3.1 innings, and that was that. Still, the Cubs are sometimes going to have to win high-scoring games, and the bats just aren’t there right now. It exacerbates the Lester issue (and, well, the rest of the rotation outside Darvish and Kyle Hendricks).
If you want a silver lining, it’s that much of the bullpen performance tonight was solid.
