David Ross didn’t want to share the big secret of Javy Báez’s injury after yesterday’s game, but Báez was willing to share today at his pro camp for the kiddos in Rosemont.
Turns out it was his heel – he’s had a bruise there before – and it might keep him out of the lineup:

Javy Baez says he’ll likely be taking at least two days to rest his heel after last night.

The Cubs have long been unlikely to trade Báez, but like we’ve said before, you just want them to have the *option* to make a deal if something over-the-top comes along. That means the timing of Báez’s injury is rather unfortunate. If he misses two days and returns on Wednesday night, that would be two games to play before the Trade Deadline.
For what it’s worth, when Báez bruised his heel back in 2019, he missed two days before returning to the lineup. He was scratched with an aggravation of the bruise a couple weeks later, but didn’t miss much time.
Now we play the waiting game once again.
