Kyle Seager is Apparently Retiring

Chicago Cubs

Well, any thoughts you had about working Kyle Seager into a platoon mix for the Cubs – and I’d had some thoughts – can now be put aside.

Seager’s wife passed on a message this afternoon that he’s hanging ’em up:

Seager, 34, just wrapped his contract with the Seattle Mariners (who then dumped him in an email), and although it was a down year overall, he still very much looked like at least a platoon option for teams at third base. But apparently he’s ready to move on into the next phase of his life, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Meanwhile, Kyle Seager’s little brother Corey is signed up for 10 more years of baseball with the Rangers.
