I am loving how much we’re getting on the prospect side down at Spring Training, given that the big leaguers aren’t participating. Don’t get me wrong, that part sucks. But it shifts more of the attention over to the minor league side, and we might as well enjoy getting to see more prospect stuff out of Mesa than we ever have before.
Among the recent visuals …
What a fun match-up between DJ Herz and James Triantos. Looks like this round went to Herz:

It may be Monday, but it's also 'Herzday'! @DavidjohnHerz throwing live BP today to several batters including @JamesTriantos in the last photo. His stuff is NASTY! #Cubs #CubsProspects #ST2022 #baseball #MiLB pic.twitter.com/KEEg0YbN9y

I love this look at Herz’s changeup grip:
Cubs prospect DJ Herz began developing a changeup with a "Vulcan" grip in 2020. Here's a look at his setup from today's live BP session.
Casey Jacobson, Cubs coordinator of pitching development, said: "The early results were pretty much there."

Kevin Alcántara looks to be getting schooled a bit by Joe Nahas, who is a sleeper prospect in his own right and is quite a bit more advanced than Alcántara:

A Juan Soto-style take, some good hacks, his on-field confidence is a blast to watch. #Cubs @WatchMarquee

Ed Howard and Jordan Nwogu taking swings, the mechanics of each just still kinda look off to me (#NotAScout):

If Max Bain is in slow-mo, does that make him Min Bain:
