Last week, MLB execs were across the board asking for this year’s Rule 5 Draft to be cancelled because of the delay from December and the fundamental landscape shift since then. If the lockout had ended sooner, it probably wouldn’t have been cancelled – it’s still an important method for players to find their way onto a big league roster – but things changed over the past couple weeks.
And it’s now been cancelled:
