In my experience, whenever you see a report out there like this, 10 out of 10 times it means a sale *IS* going to happen.

Won their World Series, now looking at a rebuild, and cashing out? Could be. They will make a huge return on the $450 million purchase price 16 years ago when MLB, which had been stewarding the former Montreal Expos franchise, sold it to the Lerner Family.
What this will mean for the direction of the organization is now a huge question, especially with the presence of Juan Soto and his looming free agency in a few years. Heck, that alone could impact other organizations, too. There are few individual players in MLB that can change the directional plan of multiple organizations around baseball, but Juan Soto is one of them. If there is uncertainty ahead for the Nationals, Soto might be all the more likely to hit free agency after the 2025 season. Boy would that be fun …
