Cubs Roster Move: Sampson Returns, Norris to IL

Chicago Cubs

I didn’t have a chance to get to this one before the game started thanks to the literal morning start time, but the Cubs made a pitching swap before today’s game.

Adrian Sampson – he of the shockingly good appearance recently – is back, and Daniel Norris goes on the IL with a left index finger strain after yesterday’s 40+ pitch, mostly-ineffective appearance. It’s been a rough year for Norris, who has flashed some great strikeout stuff, but who gets really wild and gets hammered far too often. Not sure what will happen whenever he gets over this ailment, but with the maximum 13-pitcher roster limit, it’s tougher to carry a guy who isn’t productive, even on a team like this year’s Cubs.
