I am currently blogging – here, on Facebook, and on Twitter (hash tag #BNBlogathon for those who want to jump into the fray themselves) – for 41 hours straight, past MLB’s August 2 Trade Deadline and through the Cubs/Cardinals game Tuesday night, thanks to your generous donations to Make-A-Wish. I’ll be doing recaps on the process throughout the day, but you’ll also see normal posting (Bullets, news, Pre-Gamin’, EBS, etc.), as well as a significant uptick in rumor/trade posts.

News and Rumors Since the Last Check-In:
It was another busy chunk, as the Rays-O’s-Astros got together on a three-team trade, and the Yankees acquired Frankie Montas and Lou Trivino. Then, before I could publish this, the Red Sox sent Christian Vazquez to the Astros (hey, Mets, sup), and acquired Tommy Pham from the Reds.
How has it only been 12 hours? I feel like it’s been 25.
Most Interesting Tidbit Since the Last Recap:
For me, it’s the continued question of what will happen with Juan Soto (or what has already maybe happened?), and how rapidly it could impact subsequent moves.
I have to be careful about what I share publicly, because I get a lot of behind the scenes’ heads ups precisely because I *don’t* share too much publicly, but I can say that late in the afternoon, my phone started blowing up. It was basically a whole lot of people simultaneously telling me to stay on high alert. I can do some extrapolating and guess that we might be close to a Soto resolution, and thus some movement on, for example, the Padres. I wonder to what extent the flurry of moves we’ve now seen this later afternoon/early evening is related to stuff shaking loose but not yet reported.
Current Thoughts About the Chicago Cubs’ Trade Deadline Strategy/Execution:
No real update here. Cubs are likely waiting for the behind-the-scenes Soto stuff to clarify. Gut still says the Padres are their preferred initial trade partner.

0. Still buzzing from things this afternoon, and, of course, being put on high alert.
