Edwin Díaz’s Entrance is Seriously Cool as Hell

Edwin Díaz’s entrance has been making the rounds on social media for the past couple of weeks, and for a good reason; it’s pretty freaking cool. The sound system at Citi Field blasts the trumpets of the single, ‘Narco,’ by Blasterjaxx & Timmy Trumpet.

Díaz’s numbers most definitely warrant a cool entrance. The 28-year-old closer is 2-1 with a 1.39 ERA, and 26 saves in 45 appearances this season. Díaz’s 18.07 K/9 is downright offensive, and it helps that he’s slamming the door shut on opponents for the 71-win Mets are tied for the second-best record in baseball.

He loves the video, too:

Seeing Díaz’s entrance make the rounds on social media this week got me thinking about other closers with cool entrances. Liam Hendriks enters the game to a remixed version of Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You,’ while the Guaranteed Rate Field light system flashes along to the beat as the high-energy close charges on the field.

Ryan Helsley takes the field to AC/DC’s ‘Hells Bells’ in St. Louis and then fires off 103 mph heaters at opposing hitters, which is pretty sweet (although I couldn’t find a video of it on YouTube).

Although the coolest of them all might be Mariano Rivera taking the field at Yankee Stadium to Metallica’s ‘Enter Sandman.’
