Cubs Roster Moves: Fulmer Signing Officially Official, Heuer Goes to 60-Day IL

Chicago Cubs

There it is. At long last, reliever Michael Fulmer – whose signing was reported 10 days ago, and who has already long been at camp throwing – is finally officially a Cub.

Today the Cubs announced the Fulmer signing, and placed Codi Heuer on the 60-day Injured List to open up a spot on the 40-man roster for Fulmer. As we discussed earlier today, Heuer is not expected back until June or July as he recovers from Tommy John surgery.

Fulmer, 29, was a stud young starting pitching prospect – and then big league pitcher – with the Tigers. His performance and health forced a conversion to the bullpen in the last couple years, where he’s broken back out. The Cubs signed him to a one-year, $4 million deal, and he figures to be in the mix for late-inning duties.
