Cubs vs Brewers: Pitching Matchups, Key Injuries, Game Times

Chicago Cubs

Sometimes, it feels like life is measured in Cubs seasons. Just me?

Once again, the Chicago Cubs will kick off the regular season against the Milwaukee Brewers at Wrigley Field. It worked out well enough for them last year, when they beat Corbin Burnes and Brandon Woodruff to take two of their first three games. Then again, that was about the high point of the season. So, maybe I shouldn’t be gloating.

Kyle Hendricks started the opener last year, but this season, the honor goes to Marcus Stroman. He’ll square up against Corbin Burnes, who’s been one of the best starters in baseball the last few years.

If the Cubs are going to have a shot at the playoffs this season, they’ll likely have to win their division (and also win a lot early on to avoid a sell-off in July). So that means racking up first-half wins against NL Central foes like the Brewers whenever they can.

Now let’s take a closer look at this series.

META: Oh, and for you regulars: We’re going to do things a little differently this year. Instead of the traditional preview, we’ll be doing this simpler version with just the pitching matchups, broadcast info, game times, and injuries. We’re also going to have one combined lineup/pre-gamin’ post for each game (plus the EBS, of course). It’ll have all the same info as always, and we’ll bump the post up in the timeline for those who want to use it as a game thread. Just FYI.
