Matt Mervis Just Rocketed His First Big League Homer Off the Foul Pole
We knew Matt Mervis could crush the ball. Mash it, if you will. We just had yet to see much of it in his big league run so far.
Well, tonight, Mervis definitely MASHED this one:
That is just a laser beam yank job right there. I was kinda surprised he even swung at that one, let alone kept it fair enough to hit the foul pole. It was 110.7 mph off the bat, and went 393 feet – well, estimated, since it technically only went as far as the wall.
I bet it felt really good to get that one out of the way.
Here’s how tiny the sample was on Matt Mervis so far this year (that some people were freaking out about), by the way. He came into tonight with a 43 wRC+. That ONE HOME RUN just bumped it all the way to 78.
