Oh no … The Cubs are at risk of falling below-.500! Thank god The Professor is getting his first start of the spring with a solid Cubs lineup (full of regulars) behind him. Hopefully, he can stop the bleeding. (I kid, nothing matters, start the regular season tomorrow).
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Ian Happ, LF
- Dansby Swanson, SS
- Chris Morel, 3B
- Nico Hoerner, 2B
- Mike Tauchman, CF
- Yan Gomes, C
- Patrick Wisdom, 1B
- Alexander Canario, RF
- James Triantos, DH
Ian Happ is back atop the Cubs lineup today. And while we’re miles away from a set group for Opening Day, I do think Happ winds up leading off most games this season (against righties, at least).
Meanwhile, Chris Morel is getting more reps at third base, as expected. I’d love to read Craig Counsell’s mind on his progress there. Unfortunately, I don’t think he’ll ever say anything (publicly) useful on the matter. We’ll just have to let his actions speak.
Fun prospects/young players to watch today: Alexander Canario in right (Seiya Suzuki is back out of the lineup after just one day) and James Triantos at DH. This game is televised, so get your fill of the prospects while they’re here.
Oh, and random note: I hope Michael Busch’s shoulder is recovering well after his first start yesterday. He’s not in there today, but I could imagine that was pre-planned to see how he’d react.
Cincinnati Reds Lineup:
- TJ Friedl, CF
- Elly De La Cruz, SS
- Jeimer Candelario, 3B
- Spencer Steer, LF
- Tyler Stephenson, DH
- Will Benson, RF
- Luke Maile, C
- Nick Martini, 1B
- Josh Harrison, 2B
Pitching Matchup:
Chicago Cubs: Kyle Hendricks, RHP
Notes.
Cincinnati Reds: Seth Lugo, RHP
