I’m not gonna lie, I thought the Cody chant (and subsequent homer) was AMAZING the first time around, but a little annoying to hear in every single plate appearance of his since. But maybe there’s something to it. Because today, after a 2-hour, 51-minute rain delay, the Wrigley faithful began chanting CODY-CODY-CODY…and guess what? He homered again.
Bellinger kind of needed that one, as he’s had a slow start to the year offensively. He’s still walking, getting on base, and not striking out, but was hitting just .212 with a .333 SLG before that bomb. Not that I’m concerned, it’s just good to see good results.
That one left the bat at 103.3 MPH and traveled 372 feet over the right field wall. I bet you’ll be hearing some more Cody chants at Wrigley for the foreseeable future.
