Oh my god, thank you, Michael Busch.
After Shota Imanaga’s stellar start was looking spoiled by a weak offensive showing, the Cubs were able to tie things up in the 8th inning and shut down the Padres in the top of the ninth (not without the usual Hector Neris drama, of course). And then, when the broadcast returned, you could see the rain just pouring down at Wrigley Field and I feared we were headed for a looooong night, by way of extra innings or a rain delay.
But Michael Busch wasted absolutley NO time, taking the first pitch of the ninth inning WAY out to right center field for a freakin’ AWESOME walk-off home run.
At 108 MPH off the bat and 427 feet into the bleachers, that was an absolute NO DOUBTER for Michael Busch. What a freakin’ awesome moment (and a solid 2-hit night for Busch). Thank god. I thought that all those great feelings throughout the night were going to be wasted. Cubs win. Cubs win.
