It’s official – Carson Wentz is now a member of the Rams.
Reports of his signing with the NFC West team were first made on Tuesday, and the Rams confirmed the move on Wednesday.
Wentz has been out of the league since being released by the Commanders in February, after spending just one year in Washington. Unfortunately, he was unable to reverse the downward trajectory of his career, which began when he fell out of favor with the Eagles in 2020 due to a string of subpar performances.
Wentz’s signed with the Rams is to replace Brett Rypien, who was released on Tuesday, as the backup to Matthew Stafford. Although Stafford missed Week 9 due to a thumb injury, he is expected to return in Week 11 after the team’s bye.
If he is still unable to play, Wentz will likely take the field for the first time since Week 17 of last season.
