Wow. I know there’s been speculation that Aaron Rodgers was healing uncharacteristically fast for a torn Achilles tendon. I know we’ve seen videos of him throwing, and walking without crutches and he’s been saying he wants to return.
But still, seeing Rodgers’ 21-day practice window to return opened is still amazing. And that’s what the Jets officially did today – just 79 days after Rodgers tore his Achilles on Monday Night Football against the Bills.
What’s Next For Aaron Rodgers & The Jets
It’s important to note that just because the 21-day practice window has opened for Rodgers, it does not mean that he is certain to play again this season. What it does mean is that he’s allowed to return to practice with the team, and the Jets have 21 days to add him to the active roster if they want him to play this season.
So as ESPN’s Adam Schefter mentions above, we’re not guaranteed to see Rodgers play in a game this season. But still, the fact that he’s this far along in his rehab that’s usually a 6-12 month process is amazing. I still don’t think it’s the wisest decision for him to come back and play for a team that’s likely missing out on the playoffs. That said, if he feels ready to go and wants to make a statement to himself and the team that he’s not going anywhere, I get that too.
