Adam Mokoka’s Summer League Performance Put His Versatility on Full Display

The Summer League is over, but our coverage (still (still)) isn’t!

We already broke down Coby White, Daniel Gafford, and Chandler Hutchinson’s Summer League performances in entirely separate posts. So be sure to read all those to catch up. Today, we’ll wrap things up with a little look into the Summer League performance of Adam Mokoka.

  • Okay, I see why the Bulls gave this guy a two-way contract.

When the Bulls announced the signing of Mokoka earlier this offseason, it came very much out of the blue. In 2018, Mokoka entered the NBA draft … only to withdraw at the deadline and wait for this year instead. Unfortunatly for him, the draft came and went without a new home for Mokoka, who was then forced to consider a professional return to overseas play. Instead, the Bulls went ahead and took a chance on him in free agency, and so far, that doesn’t look like a very bad decision.

Throughout his Summer League performance this season, Mokoka hung well with the current, young NBA talent, looking like a player who could – with enough time – find himself ballin’ out in the G-League for the Windy City Bulls.

When I first started reviewing Mokoka’s film, it was hard to identify exactly what he could do. But after the Summer League, it’s easy to see the versatile skill set he brings to the table. Mokoka drives into the basket a lot better than I anticipated. He has the ability to hesitate before finding the open lane to finish with a soft touch around the rim. And, last but not least, he offers a pretty nice three-ball.

He has good size for a shooting guard, checking in at six-foot-five with a six-foot-ten wingspan. And, in general, you could tell that there’s a level of professionalism in the way he played. Mokoka wouldn’t chuck up too many poorly timed baskets and always kept his eye out for the best look. He would also work well off the ball and make sure to position himself in the right spot on the court for the kick-out.

I’m not quite sure how much of Mokoka we will end up seeing on the United Center court this season, but sitting with a two-way contract, he will certainly have an opportunity for some playing time.
