How Will Derrick Rose Be Remembered? And Other Bulls Bullets

We have 27 days until preseason basketball!

I know it’s hard to care about anything preseason; I mean, even the players in the NFL don’t care (Zing!). Although, I’m actually really excited to watch this Bulls team on the court. Plus, preseason means we should be getting more Coby White and Daniel Gafford, which could make for some exciting rookie-highlights.

As a whole, I’m still quite nervous about this team, so watching these young players in a stress-free environment (you know, because the games don’t count) will be good for my overall health and happiness.

  • Throwback Tuesday (that’s a thing, right?): Whenever Derrick Rose pops up in the news, Bulls fans have to stop and listen. Bulls.com Beat Reporter Sam Smith co-authored Rose’s recently published book: I’ll Show You. Plenty of headlines have been sparked by the book’s content, and Smith hops on the latest episode of Bulls Talk to discuss. If you’re interested in hearing some behind-the-scenes Rose stories, I highly recommend tuning in.

  • One of the most recent storylines surrounding Rose hasn’t come from his book, but rather what he said on the Stephen A. Smith Show. He said: “I am a Hall of Famer. Not in everyone’s eyes but to the people I grew up with. I made it. I executed.” The quote quickly found its way around the interwebs, and people began to debate whether the man deserves a spot in the Hall of Fame. I’m sure if you ask the city of Chicago, they’ll be quick to say yes. Heck, folks have already started advocating for his jersey to be up in the rafters (which it should be). I don’t think Rose’s story is over yet, he has another fresh start on a Pistons team that could be rather interesting this season. By no means do I believe they are championship-caliber like he does (lol), but I do think it’s a situation where he could have one of his best seasons since leaving Chicago.

  • Anyway, Jamal Crawford’s on board with Rose to the HOF.

  • We’ve talked about it before, but even getting 41 wins feels tough for this Bulls team.
  • You have to admit, Boylen’s actually on the right track right now. We have no idea if his job or mentality will translate to wins on the court (which is obviously the most important), but he’s arguably done more off the court this offseason to improve the team than any other recent head coach. You don’t have to like him yet (I know I don’t), but you have to recognize the roster’s better.
  • WARNING: Read before freaking out about headline.
  • This is good stuff. I’m down for all of these choices.
  • You’re right Coby, the Texans-Saints game was, indeed, wild.
  • Heads up, the ESPN 30 for 30 on Dennis Rodman is out TONIGHT. If you haven’t seen the trailer, I recommend you give it a look. The documentary looks like it’s about to wild, just like Rodman (and that Texans-Saints game). Also, Bleacher Report’s Sean Highkin shared a pretty interesting Q&A with Rodman about the documentary and other lingering questions, I promise you it’s worth a read.

  • I was going to say dribbling, but now that I look at it closer, I legitimately don’t know.
